Cardio Mistakes Newbies Make

As Americans who are looking to make strides in fitness we want to make our journey to health as error free as possible, but no matter how hard we try we are never going to get healthy without a few slip ups. You are going to learn what some of the more common mistakes are in the weight loss path, which if you learn now will help you get to your goal faster. No matter how disciplined you are you will eventually succumb to some of these mistakes, so here are some of the common pitfalls on your future path.

Thinking you don’t need to set realistic incremental goals is usually mistake number one. There are many reasons for this and the first of them is that their is no real accountability if you have no real goals. On the other side of the same coin, you don’t get the positive benefit from having positive reinforcement from achieving the little things. Don’t just say you want to be healthy, as this can mean so many different things in and of itself.

This can be overcome by first setting a real goal for yourself and make it related to things you can control, like how many times you will make it into the gym this week. Make sure you add to that a commitment to increase the time spent there until you are averaging 45 minuets or so. If you start out slow you can build real momentum in getting passed your goal marks incrementally. Make sure you keep a journal of these things so you can look back and feel good, or look back and re-commit yourself.

Number two mistake people make, giving up the quality by thinking that longer is better. Okay I know that sounds a little weird but what I mean is rather than working out with a lot of intensity for a short period of time people workout for an hour and do next to nothing. Would you rather have a lot of pain for a short time, or short pain for a long time? If you answered the second, you better get comfortable falling into the category of, ‘People who are obese who cost the health care system millions.’

Make certain you time your workouts, and plan out everything you want to do. That way you are not wasting away precious time by thinking about what you are going to do next. Your body can lose a lot of potential calorie burn if you just sit there and think about what you need to do. You really only need 30 seconds or so in between sets, any more than that and you are wasting time.

If you need to get a great workout you need to see the best elliptical machine site, but before you do make sure you check out what Nate says about the elliptical machine.
