Massage Chairs Can Improve Your Health with Massage!

January 15, 2012

How is it that we just do not ever seem to have enough time. We know we need to take better care of our bodies, but somehow we just keep cutting corners. We are all busy. We know we need to make good health a higher priority, but. Well, you know, but. We do know that stress builds everyday. It is cumulative. How does that stress get reduced? Since ancient times, massage therapy was the preferred method. Today, how about the day spa? Nice, if I had the time. This is where a massage chair can help.

Massage chairs have advanced with the pace of technology and include many therapeutic massage therapies. Massage therapy involves the manipulation of the skin and muscles to relieve and alleviate aches, pain and discomfort. Massage chairs deliver full body massages from the base of the skull to your feet. They come with an arsenal of massage techniques and can also pinpoint certain problem areas.

What do the studies say about massage therapy? Massage therapy is effective in helping the following: relax muscles; reduce heart rate: increase blood flow and lymph flow; reduce stress; and improve range of motion of joints. Massage therapy is not just about something that feels good. It is about releasing the building up of stress. Remember stess is cumulative and constantly builds. Massage therapy is about periodic treatment. Diet and exercise are not one time events and neither is massage therapy.

OK, we know massage therapy is good for our health, but I just do not have the time. I love the day spa and it is wonderful for a great array of massage therapy. My only gripe is not having enough time to take advantage of it. By the time I go and get my wonderful treatment and come home, it took over 2 hours. Now, most of the time was heavenly bliss, so I am not complaining. It it just finding that amount of time (forget about money) to get the benefit. Now, a massage chair has one great advantage. It is always waiting for me with its tireless mechanical hands to relieve my daily stress.

One of the big time savers, not that I want to rush your massage, is how a massage chair delivers the massage versus a therapist. The typical massage therapist starts you on your back, works up and down your back. Works down one leg and then the other. Flips you over and then continues on to one leg and then the other. Next, one arms and then the other. The therapist covers 5 major areas in 50 minutes. This is roughly 10 minutes per area.

Now, a massage chair performs a full body massage as well. The difference is the massage chair works in parallel, so all major areas are receiving massages simultaneously. Since all areas are being massaged, the total massage time is only 10 minutes. The massage therapist by contrast work 5 areas for 10 minutes each for a total of 50 minutes. The massage therapist takes 5 times longer to cover the same area.

How can a massage chair can help you? The big advantage of the massage recliner is availability. It is there when you need it. How hard is it to integrate massage therapy, when you can get a full body 50 minute massage in 10 minutes. But do not feel rushed! Go another 5 or 10 minutes. The relief from those aches and pains is invaluable. Get your health back in balance and integrate massage therapy into your total health routine. Stress is continuous, the solutions to counteract its affects must also be. A massage chair recliner can be that help you just can not get from anybody else!

It is your health. Why not improve it with daily massage treatments with a Massage Chair? View and research the premier massage chair brands from Panasonic, Omega and Sanyo. We have Massage Chair Reviews on all the major brands whether we carry them or not. We want you to find the perfect massage chair for your needs.

Heal Your Liver Naturally With Food

January 18, 2011

The liver isn’t the most glamorous part of the body, but it is a hard worker. Among its many jobs are detoxification, protein synthesis, and the production of biochemicals needed for digestion. It’s not glamorous, but it’s very important: You can’t live without it. If you want to be healthy, keeping your liver functioning as it should is mandatory. To be honest, the liver has never been at the top of my list of health concerns. But after looking around a bit, I decided that maybe it deserves a little more attention, a little more care. But what can you do for your liver?

Well, I of course jumped to a “fix-it” mentality. I decided that what the liver probably needed was a detox; it’s always dealing with toxins, impurities, and so forth, so cleaning it out seemed like a good idea. But WebMD convinced me otherwise. They actually said that “most natural liver detox diets have little science supporting them… are very restrictive and can cause harm….” Detox diets are usually restrictive and impossible to maintain for more than a little while, and if they involve any fasting, that can actually slow your metabolism and possibly deprive your body of necessary nutrients. Fasting can even become addictive because it can cause a sort of “high,” And if you have diabetes, low blood sugar, an eating disorder, a heart condition, any chronic condition, are a child, a teenager, a senior, pregnant or breastfeeding, forget it.

I decided to approach liver care with a more supportive, less aggressive strategy. I decided to find out what my liver needs, not what I need to do to it. So what’s good for the liver? Foods that fight free radicals and promote natural detoxification:

Apples Heavy metals in your body are excreted as they attach themselves to the pectin in apples.

Artichokes These edible plants promote the production of bile, which helps pass toxins through the bowels.

Beets Beets contain a type of vitamin B called folate that needs to be consumed daily.

Bitter leafy greens These greens, such as endive, dandelion and chicory) help to stimulate bile flow, which of course moves toxins through your bowels, and out of your body.

Cruciferous vegetables Cruciferous vegetables, more familiar as cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, Brussel sprouts, etc., help the production of enzymes in the liver that it requires for detoxification because of the phytochemicals found in these vegetables. These phytochemicals also help to breakdown toxins.

Garlic This tasty herb contains allicin, which helps rid the liver of substances such as food additives and mercury. Garlic pills are an alternative way to consume this helpful food.

Fruits with antioxidants Cantaloupe, blueberries, raisins, grapefruit, oranges, pears, and strawberries all contain antioxidants. It is recommended to eat at least 3 servings a day of these fruits.

Maintaining a healthy liver is important and it is possible to keep it healthy without a drastic liver detox. Diet. In fact, many of the foods that help your liver detoxify naturally are easily attainable and delicious!

As someone who takes more prescription medicine than she wants to, Natalie MacBride has decided to explore some alternatives to healing with drugs: healing with food. If you’re interested in the ways you can get healthy in a natural way, check out her site Natural Healing with Food.

How to Cure Plantar Fasciitis

December 11, 2010

Plantar fasciitis or soreness of the plantar fascia occurs when the plantar fascia is afflicted with tiny rips where it joins the heel bone, or along side the ligament itself. This problem comes about due to a variety of different issues like obesity, putting too much pressure on the feet by means of physical activities or wearing shoes or boots which do not fit.

Often, you may reduce the appearance of heel pain by putting on shoes that fit properly. Commonly wearing poorly fitting or inexpensively made sneakers can lead to heel pain. One guideline is to avoid any kind of shoes or boots that does not have the right support, for example sandals or low-priced running shoes.

You want to wear footwear that haven’t any heels or have small heels and also contain a well cushioned sole with heavy arch support. Some shoes normally lack adequate cushioning, particularly along the rearfoot and front foot, and don’t allow for adequate heel support round the heel and mid-foot. Increasing the foot support and shock absorption of your shoes will reduce the stress the shoe puts along the heelbone, as a consequence minimizing the odds of tearing the heel ligaments and resulting in plantar faciitis.

The way in which a shoe fits is very important. It is not certain that your shoes will aggravate your heel and lead to plantar fasciitis, however they certainly may be the main factor Always test shoes that cure plantar fasciitis near to the end of the day The feet will be larger at nightime then in the morning Furthermore, people often have a foot a little larger than the other one..

In picking footwear, focus on the cushioning and support for the base of the foot, back heel, and front side of your foot. Ease and comfort is important when scouting for the best shoes for plantar fasciitis. It’s also important that you decide on a pair of shoes that have a wider toe area to reduce future issues with bunions .

The best way to protect against heel pain would be to diagnose any possible complications early on and pick out a correct plantar fasciitis remedy. If you don’t spot plantar fasciitis early on, it might take nearly a full year or more to improve plantar fasciitis heel problems. The good thing is that healing plantar fasciitis is quite possible and for many instances, you do not need a surgical operation to heal plantar fasciitis. Chiropractic adjustments and neck pain are synonymous.

November 20, 2010

Relief of neck pain and chiropractic adjustments has been associated for over 2,000 years. Long before mainstream medical community in the U.S. recognized Chiropractic; it was being widely used in the early civilizations of Greece, India, and China to alleviate neck pain and other forms of pain.

A common misconception of chiropractic care is that chiropractors work by twisting your neck in different directions. While chiropractors are widely credited for their effective spinal adjustment techniques (In the case of the neck, it is called cervical adjustment.), they also use other forms of therapeutic tools. Massage therapy, exercise, and diet are also used to supplement the primary spinal adjustment.

Chiropractors believe that a misaligned spine can cause major side effects on the proper functioning of the nervous system. Head, neck, back, and limb pain can be the result of these setbacks. Through hands-on spinal adjustment, chiropractors can correct the misaligned bone and allow the body room to heal itself more quickly. Chiropractic care may require more than one visit and the supplementary therapeutic solutions to fully alleviate the pain and bring back the body’s healthy condition.

When someone says they have neck pain, it is not surprising to hear another person suggest Chiropractic care. In cases where the pain is caused by postural strain (the kind caused by sitting in front of the computer all day), injuries (caused by motor vehicle accidents and whiplash), bulging discs and herniations, and osteoarthritis and other degenerative diseases reminiscent of aging, chiropractic can be a viable solution. It is extremely important that the chiropractor use all diagnostic tools to thoroughly examine other factors that may be causing the pain. If and when the practitioner discovers a fracture or an organic disease, he will refer the patient to an appropriate doctor who will address the proper treatments for the specific conditions.

Virtually anyone can receive chiropractic care for pain. A doctor of chiropractic will first do a thorough exam that consists of orthopedic and neurological tests before devising a chiropractic program for his patient. Posture is one of the first things to be examined. If the chiropractor detects scoliosis, an abnormal curvature of the spine, or if one of the shoulders or hips is lower than the other, there must be reason to believe that something is wrong. However, posture is not the only thing that completely indicates the need for chiropractic care. The doctor also examines the patient’s range of motion, muscle tone, and strength.

Yoga Practice And Aroma-Medicine: Essential Oils For Healing Injuries

October 18, 2010

Yoga practitioners tend to have a greater awareness of health, and particularly of natural health, than much of the general population. Even those folks just using yoga as a physical practice, keeping themselves feeling good, are likely to have interest in what alternative medicine may offer them. So here’s a look at the therapeutic possibilities of essential oils for the yogi. Essential oils are often misunderstood under the banner of “aromatherapy” — beyond their scents, they speed healing of injuries, keep us from catching colds and flu, support detoxification, and more. This is in addition to their more esoteric uses, which can also directly support yogic practices. Here in part one of this article, we’ll look specifically at healing injuries to the soft tissues.

One of the ideas of yoga practice is to make our physical bodies more healthy, energetic and aligned. Yet sometimes injuries occur — either as a result of our practice, other exercise or even simple accidents. Either way we’d like to heal them as quickly as possible, to get on with our practice as well as the rest of our lives. Essential oils have actually been successfully researched for their anti-inflammatory properties, as well as many other medical applications.

The first step in healing injuries is reducing inflammation. That’s why, way back when, we’d apply ice to an injury. Ibuprofen is a powerful inflammation reducer, and can actually help speed healing in some cases (though it’s really not so great for the liver). Several essential oils are highly effective at reducing inflammation. Blue chamomile and ginger are two outstanding oils, particularly when distilled using the high-tech super-critical CO2 extraction process. This low-temperature distillation extracts a greater array of healing molecules from the plant into the oil (Note: this process does not make the best oil for every plant or every application — it produces simply a different product).

To create a truly healing formula, the anti-inflammatory oils are blended with oils specifically to stimulate healing. The most effective of these is helichrysum, distilled from helichrysum italicum flowers grown in the Mediterranean region. Helichrysum is also highly anti-inflammatory and analgesic (in emergencies, it can be used “neat” at 100% strength to prevent bruising and such).

An effective blend for stimulating healing, and reducing inflammation and pain can be made following this recipe. This is for one ounce of total formula, and you can simply multiply up your numbers to make more. It is easiest to make your formula in a bottle of known size, like a one-ounce glass eye dropper tincture bottle. In this, add three to five milliliters of helichrysum, and one milliliter each of ginger and chamomile. You may also consider adding one milliliter of frankincense for additional anti-inflammatory, regenerative support. Then simply top your bottle off with any carrier oil and there you go! Simply massage-in a few times a day into the affected areas of your body.

While helichrysum is considered the finest essential oil for healing of our connective tissues, muscles and even skin, its cost can be prohibitive. Plai essential oil, distilled from a root similar to ginger native to Thailand has recently been researched for similar effects. And if its even more pain relief you’re looking for, wintergreen can be an excellent choice (wintergreen should be used with caution — it is chemically equivalent to aspirin; it should only be used as needed and kept away from children). Marjoram, too, is known for its analgesic, anti-inflammatory action. If you need to forgo the helichrysum, try this recipe — for one ounce, use: 3ml plai, 2ml wintergreen, and 1ml each lavender and sweet marjoram.

When you start venturing into medical aromatherapy, you find over 100 essential oils commonly in use today. The oils mentioned here are among the most potent for inflammation reduction and regeneration of the deeper tissues (different ones would be selected for the skin). The selection of oils used for massage is much more broad — you’ll see sweet marjoram, eucalyptus, peppermint, cypress and others in blends to help invigorate, flush, warm or cool joints and muscles — in both pre- and post-movement formulas. The curious yogi will find themselves in a whole new world of natural therapeutics, perfectly suited to complement their practices. Experiment and enjoy the process — you’re sure to find oils and blends that support your practice. In parts two and three of this article, we’ll look at oils for immune support and cleansing, and more esoteric applications such as releasing emotional knots, enhancing meditation, and more.

Increase Your Proactive Daily Relief From Stress With A Massage Chair

October 10, 2010

Massage therapy has been shown to have many positive benefits on your health and well-being. Many research studies have confirmed that there are an impressive range of physical and emotional benefits. Massage therapy helps to relieve stress, reduce muscle tension, decrease pain, improve skin tone and increase awareness. Although there are many benefits to massage therapy, there is a caveat. Massage therapy must be done on a regular and ongoing basis. It is really no different than diet and exercise.

Most people only believe that massage therapy is available at a health spa. This is certainly true as many massage therapists are available at health spas. The problem is the convenience of setting aside time in our busy schedule to get a one-hour massage.

Massage chairs on the other hand, are tremendously convenient. They are open 24 hours a day seven days a week. All you need to do is sit down and push a button. The massage chair then goes to work on relieving tight muscles and reducing your stress.

It is interesting that many people view massage chairs as expensive. However, if you really look at it, they end up being much more cost effective than a massage therapist. I guess this was the same way people viewed cars over having a horse-drawn cart.

We can take a look at the numbers for a massage therapist over time. The typical masseuse may run $60 per hour of massage therapy. If you get one massage each week for an entire year, then this equals $3,120.00 which seems much more than $60 per hour.

Now a massage chair typically has a life span of 2000 hours. That means a $3000 massage chair will cost you $1.50 per hour over the life of the massage chair. Compare this at $60 per hour for a massage therapist and you are ahead of the game for many years to come.

It is easy to get frequent massage therapy from a massage chair. Technology has impacted these recliners in a positive way. They now contain hundreds of different variations of massages. All of this is available at the touch of a button.

There is a tremendous variety of massage programs being integrated into these recliners. It is common to find popular techniques such as reflexology, shiatsu, Swedish, deep tissue and sports therapy. More techniques are being added every year as technology advances.

One of the virtues of a massage chair is that you will enjoy is its work ethic. A massage chair never takes a coffee break, never complains and never gets tired. It will faithfully carry out each command every time.

These recliners now offer many supplemental therapeutic features. You can now find music players to help your mind relax. There are full body heaters which allow you to apply heat to specific areas. There are even full body stretching systems to help stretch out the legs and even the shoulders and back.

There are a number of air massage technologies being employed in recliners. Most of these work off an air pump sending air out to specially designed airbags. The airbags then inflate which provides a squeezing sensation to your muscles for relief.

It is now easy and convenient to get daily massage therapy. Get the health benefits of regular massage treatments with your own massage chair. These advanced recliners are perfect for the home or office. Experience the difference that a few minutes of massage therapy can make on your day, every day.

Daily massage therapy is simple with Massage Chairs. Check out many effective recliners from entry level to high end luxury models. Stick with top brands like Sanyo, Panasonic and Omega for the most therapeutic and long lasting recliners. Get Daily Relief with a massage chairlocated conveniently at home.

Why Is Chakra Meditation So Important?

October 6, 2010

Chakras are the focal points for universal energy which flows through us, whether we know it or not. Your chakras have a profound influence on your life whether this effect is good, such as when they are properly aligned for energy flow or whether this effect is for the worse, like when they are blocked, preventing the flow of energy or are out of alignment.

Chakra is a Sanskrit word that means energy, and while its roots are Hindu, energy is not partial to a religion. Energy is in fact universal and every single person on this Earth has these energies. The chakra is really the vortex that this energy flows through and manifest physically. The chakras are the channels by which universal energy can flow in and out of our aura.

Ensuring that your chakras are aligned will allow you to better understand yourself; in body, mind and spirit. Most people are unbalanced, with their chakras being unaligned. Chakra meditation is for that reason a very useful practice. You must first know where your chakras are and their function in order to begin chakra meditation.

Situated in important areas of your body like the heart and the top of the head, the chakras influence the organs which surround them and they also play a part in proper energy flow. The number of chakras in your body is seven.

The first chakra is the Root Chakra and it is located at the base of the spine. This chakra is related to the body and our individual ability to master our body. So your general health, constitution and security are all tied to the Root Chakra. This is also the chakra that helps us realize how we are connected to the world around us. The color for this chakra is red.

Your second chakra is the Navel Chakra which is, as the name suggests, located in the lower abdomen. This chakra represents your drives towards physical love, including sexual pleasure. This chakra also governs your generosity and is where you will feel giving and receiving. This chakra’s color is orange.

The third chakra is the Solar Plexus Chakra, located just below our chests near the diaphragm. This chakra represents our will and our ability to change and transform. Our own control over our personal energy is governed by this chakra. This chakra is also the source of self discipline and acts as a check upon the ego. This chakra’s color is yellow.

The Heart Chakra is found in the center of the chest. It only seems natural then that this chakra control love and understanding. Our feelings of harmony, balance, forgiveness and compassion stem from this chakra. The Heart Chakra nurtures the feelings of divine and unconditional love that goes beyond the physical. The color of the Heart Chakra is green.

Fifth is the Throat Chakra, which sits between the top of the sternum and your chin. This is the chakra which is in charge of communication and helps you to understand that honesty, expressed through speech can be a source of truth and wisdom. This chakra’s color is sky blue.

Also known as the third eye, the sixth chakra is called the Brow Chakra and is located in the forehead, between the eyebrows. This chakra is responsible for insight, imagination and intuition. This is the chakra which lets you look inward to examine your own soul. Peace of mind and an experience of the divine is also located here. This chakra’s color is indigo.

The final chakra is the Crown Chakra, obviously based on the name it is found at the top of the head. So it should go with out saying then that anything that deals with the mind and spirit is controlled here. It is the Crown Chakra that is tied to our individual journey into understanding our own consciousness and our place in time and space. Anything dealing with the Higher Self is rooted in the Crown Chakra. The color for the Crown Chakra is violet.

Knowing the location and function of each chakra will assist you in chakra meditation. There are meditations which you can use to align all of your chakras and meditations which focus on one chakra at a time.
